The Full Story

Nutcracker Noir

A FESTIVE IMMERSIVE DINING EXPERIENCE

Opening Scene

Design Scene came to us with a bold ambition: take the most familiar Christmas story of all and turn it into something guests had never tasted before.

Not a panto, not a dinner-and-a-show - a full theatrical world where food carries the story as much as the performance does.

Our response: a five-course feast, woven scene by scene into Clara's journey through Protein Studios - with Feast & Fable's leading the menu design alongside a West End creative team, so every course landed as a plot point, not an interval.

Guests moved through a sequence of dreamlike rooms - hidden surprises, curious characters and multi-sensory set pieces - before taking their seats at Club Noir, where the story continued to unfold around the table, moving with the performance from Japanese-inflected elegance to a Tchaikovsky-fuelled Spanish finale.

All That Dazzles

"Among the nicest food I have ever eaten - a five-course meal of incredible quality."

The Edible Experience

A full five-course dinner, with each course built as narrative, not just nourishment.

  • Brick Lane butter and sourdough, with panch phoron, sweet roast garlic and crispy onions

  • A "Traditional vs New Wave" trout course - treacle-glazed with celeriac and apple remoulade, alongside a nori and brown sugar cured take with tomato ponzu and tobiko

  • Burnt Ends 'n' Grits - slow braised beef cheek with a smoky BBQ reduction and Parmesan grits, paired with a midwinter salad

  • La Recette Perdue - a baked Basque cheesecake with Spanish brandy and sugar plum coulis

Full wine and cocktail pairings ran alongside, with the bar designed to match the show's shift from noir elegance to festive theatrics.

Final Word

Nutcracker Noir ran a sold-out, critically praised limited season at Protein Studios - proof that a five-course feast can carry a story just as powerfully as the performance around it. When food stops being an accompaniment and becomes part of the plot, that's the kind of brief we live for.
